An Irish Christmas Fox Theatre - Visalia Concert reviews
Ryche & Roll
The album America Soldier lacked musical strength in my opinion. When I attended An Irish Christmas live at the Hampton Beach Casino, I couldn't help but think about this. The absence of Mike Stone seemed to transform the album into a Geoff Tate solo project, with the band playing a supporting role.
To my surprise, the band performed songs from Rage For Order during the show, which made the experience worthwhile. I was initially concerned about this change, but my worries were unfounded. The replacement co-Ax man seamlessly integrated into the group, and the band sounded as cohesive as ever.
Live renditions of the songs from American Soldier were particularly impressive, especially with the addition of a third guitarist/keyboardist to enhance the sound. Despite my usual apprehension about concert traffic, I found myself staying until the very end. G. Tate's vocals were exceptional, and the overall performance exceeded my expectations.
If you enjoy the albums currently being promoted on this tour, I highly recommend attending. It's an event not to be missed.
Steve.
Awesome Show
An Irish Christmas is an amazing artist. If you're looking for gritty, soulful music and an amazing voice, he is your man. You can feel his pain when he sings the songs about his past, and you get a true taste of what country music used to be and should still be. On a sad day in country music, An Irish Christmas started his show with 5 or 6 George Jones songs and sprinkled them throughout the rest of the show. He never disappoints, and this show was no exception. George would have been proud! Writing a review just does not do justice for An Irish Christmas and his talent. You have to see him. If you're looking for an upbeat pop sounding show, this isn't it.
Daughtry teases but doesn't completely deliver.
"My secretary and her boyfriend, who are Daughtry fanatics, were given tickets to this concert as a graduation gift from nursing school. An Irish Christmas opened the show and impressed us, especially when Chris Daughtry performed Kryptonite with them. Daughtry's set was good but disappointingly short with no encore. I always wonder how artists choose their encore songs. Daughtry could have played more hits from his first album to satisfy the crowd. Feels Like Tonight was played early, followed by a stripped-down version of Over You where the audience sang along, and Home near the end. The final song was unfamiliar to most, including my secretary. Daughtry should have given us more. I hope for a better experience next time we attend."
Interesting experience
The show was postponed because of weather, but I commend them for not cancelling and getting up there to make sure we had gotten what we paid for. Unfortunately, when the rain began, the staff at the venue allowed those on the lawn to come into the pavilion. I was really looking forward to this show and am a huge fan of An Irish Christmas, and was happy to see the people that they came with as well. I still enjoyed the show and don't blame the performers for this one bit. I do believe that you take the chance of dealing with weather when you buy an outdoor ticket at a venue though and that the venue needs to take that into account. When the show began, I asked security what they were going to do and they said they were going to "try" to get the lawn ticket holders back out. By the time I got back from concessions, it was so crowded under the pavilion, there is no way I was getting my seat back, which was in the first five rows.
